Forest Planning + Silvicultural Treatments
Forest Planning is the process of compiling stand information, analyzing characteristics, and creating a plan for the landowner that outlines the most appropriate silvicultural treatments to meet their landowner goals. Harvest plans are developed for each stand of timber, establishing a timeline for thinning intervals and final harvest rotations.
Silvicultural treatments include thinning, herbicide application, fertilizer application, prescribed fire, final harvests, replanting, and site preparation.
These processes are tools used to create stand characteristics that align with the landowner's overall goals, including timber production, forest health, wildlife habitat, recreation, water quality, and other values.
